However, this land grant that is referred to is being given at market rates to many groups, many of them Hindu groups, unlike "free" grants given by the Brits to establish schools (like St. Joseph's), churches, and sundry others. In fact the "Jolly Grant" Airport in Dehradun is a "grant" given to Lt. Jolly of the colonial armed service after demobilisation from the army. The generations of Gurkhas who owned and fought for that land (and won till the very end) got dispossessed.
